Who builds this

John is a licensed attorney in the State of Texas and a career public servant in San Antonio. He holds a Juris Doctor (JD) and a Master of Laws (LLM) — both earned with honors — and has taught as an adjunct law school instructor and a law enforcement instructor for many years.

He currently serves as a law enforcement lieutenant, in-house counsel, and Internal Affairs commander at a large law enforcement agency in Bexar County (San Antonio), Texas.

His path also includes service as a firefighter — as a civilian and in the United States Marine Corps — until an injury ended firefighting duties. Across fire, the military, and law enforcement, he kept seeing the same failure mode: capable people blocked by how material is taught and tested, not by whether they can do the job.

Why Adapted Study

Training and promotional exams are often built for one kind of learner. John has spent years studying andragogy (how adults learn), learning styles, personality's effect on learning, and practical ways to adapt around difficulty — because inadequate training is a professionalism problem, not a personal failing.

Adapted Study is his answer: meet learners in their primary modality, support the secondary, and treat obstacles as first-class design constraints — so people can master their materials and compete on written exams and oral boards that were never designed with them in mind.

The personal reason

The deepest reason is personal. John's wife, Erika, is also a peace officer working to promote. That path demands both a long comprehensive written exam and a short oral board before a panel of superiors.

Erika is highly capable. She also learns differently: primarily kinesthetic, with a visual secondary style, and she navigates dyslexia, ADHD, and English as a second language (Spanish first). Tools built for visual speed-reading helped a little. What finally clicked was study material she could do — manipulate, apply, move through — not only watch or listen to.

That excitement is the product bar: if it does not work for someone like Erika under real promotional pressure, it is not done.
